Morgan Murray

A Literary Voice that Blends Humor, Heart!

Canadian author Morgan Murray made his literary debut in 2020 with the publication of "Dirty Birds," a novel that quickly garnered attention. The book earned a place on the shortlist for both the ReLit Award for fiction and the Stephen Leacock Memorial Medal for Humour in 2021, showcasing Murray's skill in crafting engaging and humorous narratives.

Hailing from Caroline, Alberta, Murray's literary journey was shaped by his studies at the University of Calgary and Memorial University of Newfoundland. During his time in Newfoundland, he participated in a creative writing workshop under the guidance of Lisa Moore and co-founded a writing group, counting novelist Sharon Bala among its members.

"Dirty Birds" delves into the life of Milton Ontario, a young aspiring writer who embarks on a journey from his hometown of Bellybutton, Saskatchewan to Montreal, inspired by his idol, Leonard Cohen. The novel's captivating narrative not only earned literary nominations but also secured a spot on the longlist for the 2021 edition of Canada Reads.

Currently residing in Mabou, Nova Scotia, alongside his wife, esteemed cartoonist Kate Beaton, Murray continues to captivate readers with his literary prowess and engaging storytelling.
